I didn’t plan to be in the hospital.

And I definitely didn’t plan to give a business coaching session to my night nurse at 3am — hooked up to monitors, recovering from blood loss, and pausing between vitals to catch my breath.

But that’s what happened.

Her name was Jada. She was kind and curious, and when she asked what I did for a living, I told her about my summit, my courses, and how I’d built a business that keeps making sales… even while I’m flat on my back, quite literally, in recovery.

Her eyes lit up. “I’ve always wanted to start a spa,” she said. “Something that runs itself so I don’t have to do any work.”

I smiled gently. “Girl, let me stop you right there.”

We had a real conversation — not about shortcuts, but about clarity. About how confidence comes from doing the thing before you feel ready. About how I built this business while working full-time, showing up late at night, tired but committed. About how “passive” income is never truly passive at the start.

And what struck me most was this: she didn’t need a full strategy. She needed belief.

The kind of belief that only shows up after the doing begins.

I’ve been thinking about that conversation all week — while lying down between carrying orders to the mailbox and sweeping the stairs. While recovering from a mistake that wasn’t mine, that cost me blood and energy and the second half of a summit I poured my whole summer into.

And I’ve been thinking about my son, too — tripped twice during his cross country meets by competitors, finishing both races scraped, bloodied, and frustrated… but still finishing.

Confidence doesn’t come from control.
It doesn’t come from things going the way you hoped.
It comes from getting back up.

From showing up again.
From believing in what you built, even when you're in bed instead of at your desk.
Even when you missed the milestone. Even when you’re still healing.
